Yokohama Tire Recall:

Yokohama Tire Corporation more commonly known as Yokohama Tire, is recalling certain 7.50R16 RY215 tires manufactured between January 1, 2006, and August 1, 2011. These tires are missing the "DOT" prefix, the required load/inflation information and do not list the material and number of structural plies. The lack of these markings is a violation of the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, No. 119, "New Pneumatic Tires for Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) and Motorcycles."

What Can Happen:

Without the required load/inflation markings, consumers and the ultimate users of these tires may overload the tire which could result in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash, resulting injury and or death.

Solution:

Yokohama will notify owners and dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by late November 2013. Owners may contact Yokohama directly at 1-800-423-4544.
